Protective Industries, Inc., the parent company of Caplugs, Medbio, Mokon and Tri-Star Protectors, is pleased to announce the launch of The Protective Promise, a new program established to ensure we are focused on helping our employees thrive and working to help leave a brighter and greener planet for future generations.
This new program is designed to drive continuous improvement across our organizations, aiming toward two ultimate goals. First, we seek to increase employee satisfaction and expand opportunities for professional development and growth by establishing Protective Industries companies as an employer of choice in all areas where we work. Second, investing in a number of technologies, programs and working habits to reduce our overall carbon footprint and contribute to leaving behind a healthier world.
“We’ve always strived to make Protective Industries a great place to both start and grow a career,” said Dave Williams, President and CEO of Protective Industries. “Through a blend of initiatives recently rolled out, we have created an open culture of learning and development, where feedback is welcomed, and opportunities for growth embraced.”
These initiatives include an increased focus on promotion visibility, where positions are posted internally and hiring from within is encouraged and prioritized. All companies also have active voice-of-employee surveys and meetings to provide more opportunities to give and hear direct input from all members of the team. New tuition reimbursement and unplanned hardship programs help employees seeking to further their education or who are in need of aid during an unforeseen financial emergency.
“Our employees are our most important resource,” added Williams. “We know our teams create tremendous value for our customers every day. That’s why it’s critical we invest in them, their needs and their development, not only to focus on our employee satisfaction, but to make our companies the place they want to start, grow and flourish with their careers for the betterment of themselves and their families.”
In addition to employee initiatives, The Protective Promise also seeks to address the future health of our environment and our planet. To address the broad scope of efforts needed to make an impact, we have established a team that is dedicated to four primary sustainability initiatives – managing energy sources, reducing waste, conserving water consumption and reducing our carbon footprint.
“Our goal is not only to preserve this earth, but to make it a better place,” said Rick Carlson, the director of sustainability for Protective Industries. “Sustainability is now one of our core values and is integrated in every facet of our operations, from our supply chain to our manufacturing processes.”
In addition to programs undertaken to reduce waste and energy usage, options for more sustainability are also being explored in our materials programs. This includes a new compostable material that is compatible with injection molding, meaning a 100% plastic diversion. Recycled material is also an option for more than 2,000 parts with even more of our catalog parts available using this recycled material. An additional 40% post-consumer LDPE material alternative is also available for many catalog parts.
All of the programs and commitments incorporated to The Protective Promise start at our headquarters in Buffalo, N.Y., and extend across Protective Industries’ 17 worldwide facilities as we explore every option to reduce and reuse resources and drive opportunities and satisfaction for our employees. These initiatives will take different forms in each of the locations where we work, meeting the specific needs of our facilities and our local teams, but driving toward the same goals.
“I look forward to seeing the progress we will make together, for our people and our planet, with The Protective Promise,” said Williams.
